# BotPhone: a phone line for your agent

BotPhone gives an AI agent a real business phone number. BotPhone's own voice
agent holds the live call (inbound or outbound) so you never have to answer in
real time. You set it up, send it on calls, and read the outcome afterwards.

- Website: https://www.botphone.tel/mcp
- MCP server: `https://auth.botphone.tel/mcp` (streamable HTTP)
- Auth: OAuth 2.0 authorization code with PKCE (S256) and dynamic client
  registration. Discovery: `https://auth.botphone.tel/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource`
- Docs and tool reference: https://auth.botphone.tel/docs
- Dashboard (number, area code, credit): https://auth.botphone.tel/app/setup

## Connect

Add BotPhone as a remote MCP server with OAuth, using the full URL including
`/mcp`. A BotPhone sign-in opens; the user signs in (or creates an account),
reviews the permissions, and taps **Allow**. New accounts pick a number right
after. Only the user can complete the sign-in.

| Agent | How |
|---|---|
| Claude | Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the URL |
| Claude Code | `claude mcp add --transport http botphone https://auth.botphone.tel/mcp`, then `/mcp` to sign in |
| ChatGPT or Dots | Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced > Developer mode, then Create, paste the URL, choose OAuth |
| Codex | `codex mcp add botphone --url https://auth.botphone.tel/mcp`, then `codex mcp login botphone` |
| Grok Bot | Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, or ask Grok Bot to add it |
| OpenClaw | Under `mcp.servers` in `~/.openclaw/openclaw.json`: `"botphone": {"url": "https://auth.botphone.tel/mcp", "transport": "streamable-http", "auth": "oauth"}`, then `openclaw mcp login botphone` |
| Hermes Agent | Under `mcp_servers` in `~/.hermes/config.yaml`: `botphone: {url: "https://auth.botphone.tel/mcp", auth: oauth}`, then `hermes mcp login botphone` |
| Muse | Use the Add to Muse steps at https://www.botphone.tel/products/muse-receptionist |

## Use

Start with `get_account_status` (line, balance, unread calls, links) and
`get_agent_config`.

- **Who called:** `list_calls`, then `get_call_details` for the transcript.
`mark_calls_read` when the user has seen them.
- **Make a call:** `place_call` with the number the user gives and a clear goal.
  US and Canadian numbers only. Placing a call spends the user's prepaid credit;
the user's request is the authorization.
- **Change what the agent says:** summarize the change and get the user's
confirmation, then `update_agent_prompt` with the full new prompt. History:
  `get_prompt_history`; undo: `restore_agent_prompt_revision`.
- **Teach it about the business:** `add_knowledge_text`, or
`add_knowledge_website` (say the domain and whether it is one page or a crawl
  first), then check `list_knowledge_sources`.
- **Money:** `get_top_up_link` for a payment link. Anything without a tool
(changing the number, plans): send the user to the dashboard link above.

## Pricing

$25/month includes a number and 150 minutes, or pay as you go at $0.20/minute
plus $2/month for the number. The first 100 signups get the first month free.
