1. Agreement and eligibility
By accessing or using BotPhone for Muse, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 18 and authorized to bind the business you represent. If you use the beta for another business, you represent that you have permission to configure communications and connect its accounts.
2. The beta service
The service is an experimental AI receptionist operated by BotPhone. BotPhone voice agents answer supported inbound business calls, capture information, answer configured routine questions, and send supported conversation information to a connected Muse account. The service is inbound only and does not place outbound calls.
WhatsApp is coming soon and is not currently supported. The beta does not yet support WhatsApp calls, messages, or WhatsApp Business accounts, and we do not currently process WhatsApp data. References to WhatsApp on our site describe a planned feature, not a current one, and we do not promise a launch date. When WhatsApp support launches, these Terms will be updated and WhatsApp Business terms, messaging policies, and Meta account requirements will apply to that feature.
Service limits. The beta is offered to U.S. small businesses with U.S. phone numbers. A single call is capped at 10 minutes. The beta does not record call audio.
Muse acts only as a connected interface that can exchange approved business context, instructions, and conversation outcomes with BotPhone. Muse does not provide telephony or carry calls itself.
Beta features may be incomplete, unavailable, changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Connector access depends on Meta review, account eligibility, permissions, third-party availability, and technical compatibility. We do not promise that the connector will be approved or continuously available.
3. Independent product
BotPhone for Muse is offered by BotPhone. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Meta. Meta, Muse, WhatsApp, and related names and marks belong to their respective owners.
4. Accounts and permissions
You must provide accurate account information, protect credentials, and promptly report unauthorized activity. You authorize BotPhone to access and exchange information with connected services only within the permissions you grant and the configuration you approve. You can revoke third-party permissions through the relevant platform, but doing so may stop the beta from working.
5. Instructions and changes through Muse
A connected Muse account may be used to review calls, share approved business context or instructions with BotPhone, and request changes to the receptionist's settings. Muse cannot be used to direct the receptionist to call people, and it does not operate the telephony service. Muse asks you to confirm a requested change before it is applied. You are responsible for reviewing each requested change, confirming only changes you intend to make, and checking the receptionist's final settings.
AI systems can misunderstand instructions or make mistakes. A confirmation request does not guarantee that a change is correct, complete, or appropriate for your business. Changes you confirm through Muse are treated as changes authorized by you.
6. Phone numbers and call forwarding
Phone numbers are rented, not owned
Any phone number provided through the service is rented or licensed to you for use with an active paid account. The number is not sold to you, and you do not own it. If the monthly number fee cannot be paid when due, you have a three-calendar-day grace period beginning on the payment due date. If the fee remains unpaid when that grace period ends, the number is released. Closing your account also causes the number to be released. Once released, the number cannot be recovered and may be assigned to someone else.
Call forwarding
If you forward an existing business number to the receptionist, you must set up, test, and maintain forwarding through your own carrier. You are responsible for any forwarding, airtime, or other charges imposed by your carrier. Forwarded calls are billed by BotPhone at the same per-minute rate as other inbound calls.
7. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Your business information, receptionist instructions, routing rules, and connected accounts
- Having a lawful basis for transcription, messaging, and processing personal information
- Complying with any AI-disclosure and notice requirements that apply to calls your business receives
- Complying with privacy, consumer-protection, industry, and accessibility laws that apply to your use
- Following Meta, Muse, WhatsApp (once available), carrier, and other third-party terms and policies
- Reviewing material outputs and maintaining a practical human escalation path
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the beta to:
- Break the law, violate third-party rights, or bypass platform safeguards
- Send spam, unlawful marketing, harassment, threats, or fraudulent communications
- Collect information you do not have a lawful reason to collect
- Make automated decisions that create legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate human review
- Provide emergency dispatch, medical diagnosis, legal advice, financial advice, or another high-risk professional service
- Probe, reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or compromise the service or connected platforms
9. No emergency use
The beta does not provide access to emergency services and must not be used as a substitute for 911, a public safety answering point, or an emergency response system. You must maintain another way to reach emergency services.
10. AI limitations
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or inappropriate. The receptionist may misunderstand a caller, provide an incorrect response, or fail to complete an action. You must review important information and should not rely on the beta as the sole source for safety-critical, legal, medical, financial, employment, housing, or other consequential decisions.
11. Business content and data
You retain ownership of business content you provide. You grant BotPhone a limited license to host, process, transmit, reproduce, and use that content as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the beta. You represent that you have the rights and lawful basis needed for the content and instructions you submit.
12. Fees, prepaid credit, and taxes
Current self-service pricing is $2 for initial setup, $2 per month for the assigned phone number, and $0.20 per minute for inbound calls, including calls forwarded from another number. All prices are stated in U.S. dollars.
BotPhone for Muse does not offer outbound calling, and the receptionist does not place outbound calls. Muse does not set or collect calling charges.
Calling credit must be purchased in advance. Usage charges are deducted from your prepaid balance. When the balance reaches $0, the receptionist stops handling billable calls until you add more credit.
If payment of the monthly number fee fails or remains unpaid, a three-calendar-day grace period applies as described in Section 6. The number is released if the fee is not paid before that grace period ends.
Except where required by law, the setup fee, monthly number fee, and prepaid calling credit are non-refundable. Unused credit is not paid out when an account is closed. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact BotPhone so we can review it.
Applicable sales, use, telecommunications, or similar taxes may be added to the amount charged. We may change prices by giving notice before the new price takes effect. Continued use after the effective date of a price change means you accept the updated price.
13. Third-party services
The beta relies on third-party networks, software, APIs, and platforms. BotPhone does not control those services and is not responsible for their downtime, policy changes, suspensions, data practices, or decisions to approve or reject access. Your use of each third-party service is governed by its own terms.
14. Intellectual property
BotPhone and its licensors own the beta, software, design, documentation, and BotPhone branding. These Terms grant only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the beta for your internal business purposes while your account is active.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the beta at any time. BotPhone may limit, suspend, or terminate access for a $0 prepaid balance, non-payment of the monthly number fee, security risk, policy or legal concerns, third-party platform action, misuse, or discontinuation of the beta. Closing the account causes the assigned number to be released. If a monthly number fee is unpaid, the number is released only after the three-calendar-day grace period described in Section 6 expires without payment. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
16. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE BETA IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” BOTPHONE DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND CONTINUOUS AVAILABILITY. BOTPHONE DOES NOT WARRANT META APPROVAL OR THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM ACCESS.
17. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOTPHONE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. BOTPHONE'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE BETA WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE BETA DURING THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
18. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BotPhone and its personnel from claims, losses, and expenses arising from your business content, your instructions, your violation of these Terms, your unlawful communications, or your infringement of another person's rights.
19. Governing law
Kansas law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Johnson County, Kansas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
20. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as the beta develops. We will post the updated date and provide additional notice when required. Questions may be sent to info@botphone.tel.
